Admission Requirements


  • Associate Degree in Medical Lab Technician (Minimum 2.5 GPA) from KCC or other accredited Medical Laboratory Technician institutions
  • National Certification in Medical Lab Technician
  • Recommendation of Department Academic Advisors
  • Medical Lab Technicians should be currently working, or anticipate working in a lab on the first day of class.

  • Admission: Completion of all admission requirements.
  • Application: Applications are accepted in both Spring and Fall semesters.
  • Min. major credits: 56
  • Min. C grade (not C-) in all MEDT courses.

Medical Technology Post-Baccalaureate Study


Certification and Licensure

  • Following completion of the Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, students must complete post-baccalaureate study (MEDT 591 ) to qualify for certification and licensure.

The online BS in Medical Technology admits students who have earned an Associate Degree in Medical Lab Technician (Minimum 2.5 GPA) from an accredited Medical Lab Technician institution.
Students must meet foundations and diversification general education requirements (not shown in this plan).
Students must incorporate all focus requirements into this plan. Focus designations (i.e., W, E, O, H) are CRN specific & semester specific.
Students with transfer credits from a non-UH System institution may have adjusted (“prorated”) focus requirements.
Minimum 45 upper division (300+ course) credits are required.
Minimum 30 UH Mānoa credits are required.
Minimum 120 total applicable credits are required for the bachelor’s degree (not shown here).
